Abstract

Paper is a very important need, almost all activities always require a lot of paper, such as gift wrapping paper, food wrapping paper, paper for newspapers, paper for tissues, notebook paper, and so on. Cassava peel waste has a fairly high cellulose content, the cellulose content in cassava peel waste reaches 43.626%. This research was conducted with the aim to determine the effectiveness of cassavapeel as a raw material for making pulp. In this study, cassava peels were used for each sample of 1.5 grams, with a NaOH cooking solution (20%, 25%, 30%) and cooking times of 40, 80, 120 minutes. The highest lignin content was obtained at 1.4990% at a NaOH concentration of 20% and a cooking time of 40 minutes, while the lowest lignin content was obtained at 1.1994 from a NaOHconcentration of 30% and a cooking time of 120 minutes.
